Now, when I evaluate equipment, the checklist isn't just price and kW. It includes:
- Parts density: How many dealers are within a 50-mile radius?
- Service history: Does my local tech have hands-on experience with this specific engine?
- Fuel performance: Can I talk to an owner who actually logs their usage?
That 12-point checklist I created after my third mistake has saved us an estimated $8,000 in potential rework and expedited shipping costs over the last two years.
I’m not saying Doosan is the only option. But for our use case—running daily on a construction site where downtime equals missed deadlines—the math was clear. Spending $4,000 more upfront was an insurance policy against a $6,000 headache later. That’s a bet I’m happy we made.
